Elbersreuth is located on a plateau between the valleys of the Steinach and the Wild Rodach at the foot of the 690 m high Pressecker Knock in the Franconian Forest Nature Park in the heart of the Franconian Forest, about 27 km north of Kulmbach and about 20 km east of Kronach, lies the municipality of Presseck.
