Our house is located 15 minutes on foot from the market square of Bad Gottleuba, where you can hike over the Raabsteine or through the Tannenbusch, far away from the tourist hustle and bustle. Visit our Talsperre viewpoint with its circular hiking trail. Nature lovers should definitely visit our nature reserve. Nearby is the Oelsner Höhe, a popular hiking tour, where you can visit the Rumpelkammer at the riding stables, the medical exhibitions at the health park clinic, the Max-Bähr-Mühle mill for demonstrations and the Marie-Louise Stollen, a salt barn and the Seismographic Museum in the neighbouring village of Berggießhübel, where you will find hotels, inns and cafés to feast and quench your thirst. In the town centre you will find a savings bank, pharmacy, doctor/dentist's surgery, physiotherapy, bakery, butcher, two supermarkets, hairdresser, leather goods, arts and crafts, fashion shop, tourist office, library and florist. The historic city centre of Dresden with its special sights can be reached in 20 minutes. The district town of Pirna is about 25 minutes away by car via the S 173 motorway and you will be amazed by the old town. The Marienkirche church, the city museum and the Tom Pauls theatre are definitely worth a visit. Not far away is the steamer landing stage for trips to Dresden, Prague or the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. Be sure to visit the Bastei, the view is well worth it. Weesenstein Castle, Pillnitz Castle or Königstein Fortress can be combined with a hike or reached quickly by car. Altenberg and the bobsleigh run are not only interesting in winter, there is also plenty to do in the village and the surrounding area during the rest of the year. The car journey takes 20 minutes.
