Skovgårde is a lovely holiday home area on the northern coast of Djursland, not far from the old fishing village of Fjellerup. The beach is a very child-friendly sandy beach with shallow water and a sandy bottom. The nature around the area is very diverse, with forests, fields, heathland, and plenty of small paths and roads, perfect for cycling and hiking. Nearby attractions include Mejlgård Castle and the stone tombs near Tustrup. It’s about 2 km to Fjellerup Town, which has shopping options and several restaurants, and about a 30-minute drive to the Kattegat Centre in Grenaa. It’s about a 20-minute drive to Djurs Sommerland, the largest amusement park in the Nordic countries, with attractions for both adults and children. The Kyst and Fjord Centre at Mellerup is about a half-hour drive away and is worth a visit.
